Day 13 – No Shave Yoga Event – #yogabeardsunite – Lift Up & Pass It On
If someone had told me when I was going through my rebellious teenage years that my Dad and I would be practicing and teaching yoga together in the future I would not have believed them. The beauty of growing older and hopefully wiser is that we begin to appreciate the simple things in life. Yoga has aided me in this endeavor and has helped me greatly in appreciating my family and local community. As we move through the generations we pass along our traits to our loved ones. Sometimes for better or worse this reality becomes known. One way that we can positively affect our current situation is to develop a yoga practice and share with others. 
In the tradition of yoga, donating to those in need, is seen as a cornerstone of the practice. Dāna is a Sanskrit and Pali word that connotes the virtue of generosity, charity or giving of alms in the Indian philosophies. Whenever we give, it is essential to not expect anything in return. Yet when we give it is known that it helps to lift the nature of the one who gives.
No Shave Yoga Event is a group of yoga teachers who have banded together to help spread the word, grow hairy, raise money and inspire health through the practice of yoga. Our fundraising team is called Yoga Beards Unite and we aim to raise at least $1500 by the end of November.
